I took some notes on the lecture about TOEFL Speaking I posted yesterday. Use the notes and the video to your advantage. They are both a great resource.

6 Areas of TOEFL

2 Independent Speaking Questions- Your job is to give a choice. Then, give examples and reasons why you made your choice. (For example, Talk about a book you recently read.)

2 Integrated Questions-  You will have one reading passage, and one listening passage. Then, you must speak about both.

2 Categorizing/ Summarizing – Only listening.

Further Explanation

·        Make a choice (5-7 seconds)
·        Give a reason why (17 seconds)
·        Added example/detail
·        Give another reason  (17 seconds)
·        Added example/detail
·        Conclusion (5 seconds)
*** One reason is ok. Just make it longer****
***Examples must be relevant. But, they can’t check if it is true.***
